Vows That Wow- Monique & Davion
Monique and Davion McKnight wanted their wedding to feel unmistakably like them. They pictured a garden party shared with their closest family and friends, filled with the joy of celebrating their marriage together. With the help of their planning team and vendors, the celebration became everything Monique had hoped for.
The day brought together details that felt personal to the couple. Monique wore a Nicole + Felicia gown she had fallen in love with during her very first dress appointment at Kleinfeld. During cocktail hour, a mariachi band honored her family’s Mexican heritage and gave guests a moment she will always remember.
For Monique, the beauty of the day was matched by how it felt: she felt beautiful, surrounded by people she loved, and able to celebrate her marriage to Davion in a way that was true to them both.

A Garden Party That Felt Like Them
As Monique and Davion imagined their wedding, they kept coming back to one idea: they wanted the day to feel like them. Their vision was a garden party where they could gather with their closest family and friends and celebrate their love.
That vision guided the celebration. Rather than focusing only on how the wedding would look, the couple cared about the experience of being there together. They wanted to enjoy the day with the people who had been part of their lives and share the happiness of beginning their marriage.
“My husband and I wanted our day to feel like us and that’s exactly how it felt,” Monique shared.
Monique credits their vendors and wedding planning team with bringing the vision to life. Seeing the day come together as they had imagined made the celebration all the more special.
A Bridal Gown She Knew Was the One
For some brides, finding the dress takes many appointments. For Monique, the answer came with the first gown she tried on at Kleinfeld.
It was a Nicole + Felicia design that she fell in love with immediately. The gown felt right for the garden party wedding she and Davion had envisioned, and Monique knew she had found her dress.
“My dress which tied perfectly with the garden party theme is a Nicole and Felicia gown I fell in love with, funny enough it was actually the first dress I tried on when I went wedding dress shopping at Kleinfeld! I knew instantly it was the dress,” she recalled.
Wearing a gown she had felt so certain about from the beginning added to the excitement of the day. Monique remembers feeling beautiful as she celebrated her marriage with Davion and everyone who came to share in it.
A Cocktail Hour Honoring Her Heritage
Monique also wanted the wedding to celebrate where she comes from. With her family from Mexico, incorporating her culture into the day was especially meaningful to her.
The couple chose to have a mariachi band play during cocktail hour. It gave guests a chance to enjoy the music while celebrating a part of Monique’s family history. The response made the choice even more memorable for her.
“My family is from Mexico so I knew I wanted to incorporate my culture, so we had a mariachi band play during cocktail hour. Our guest loved it and it’s something I will cherish forever,” Monique shared.
Among all the moments of the wedding, the mariachi performance stands out as one Monique knows she will carry with her. It brought something deeply personal into the celebration and allowed her to share it with the people closest to her and Davion.
The People Who Brought the Vision to Life
When Monique describes her wedding, she is quick to recognize the people who helped make it happen. She praised every vendor involved and said her wedding planning team “killed it.”
Their work gave Monique and Davion the garden party celebration they had dreamed of. It also allowed the couple to be present for the moments that mattered most to them: seeing their loved ones gathered together, enjoying the day, and celebrating their marriage.
“My wedding day was everything I could’ve dreamed of and more!” Monique shared.
The result was a wedding that felt beautiful to Monique because it reflected the couple. From her gown to the music at cocktail hour, each detail had a place in the story of their day.
A Day to Cherish Forever
Monique and Davion’s wedding began with a simple, heartfelt vision: a garden party with their closest family and friends. By the end of the celebration, Monique felt that vision had come to life beautifully.
She had found a dress she loved from the moment she put it on. She had honored her Mexican heritage through music that guests enjoyed. Most of all, she and Davion had the chance to celebrate their love surrounded by the people who mean the most to them.
“I felt so beautiful and being able to celebrate the love of my husband and I with eveyone was a dream!” Monique shared.
For Monique and Davion, the day was more than the garden party they had imagined. It was a celebration that felt entirely their own—and, as Monique put it, “Truly a perfect day!”
